Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a modern and more flexible approach than traditional hynotherapy. It does not involve the reading of repetitive scripts whilst the client is in trance. Instead, it tailors the treatment to the individual needs of the client and their individual issue.
Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a scientific approach to hypnosis and therapy, based on the best elements from many different disciplines, such as cognitive science and neuroscience. It is an extremely flexible approach, evolving all the time as our knowledge of the human mind advances. The goal is to utilise the client's own perceptions (of which trance states are taken to be an everyday part) to bring about effective change at both subconscious and conscious levels, from the client's perceived problem state, to a state that the client (not the therapist) defines as a solution state, i.e when the problem no longer exists.
Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a very powerful tool for changing unwanted beliefs and behaviour and, as a Quest-Trained Therapist, I have the ability to use a specialist hypnotic language called "wordweaving™", created by the renowned founder of Cognitive Hypnotherapy, Trevor Silvester. Therefore, there are no generic scripts just a very individual approach, tailored to your individual problem, helping you to reach your own individual solution.

NLP is an ever-growing collection of information and insights, backed up by a huge range of mental NLP Techniques that can enable you to improve how you think, behave and feel and assist others to do the same.
The name Neuro-Linguistic Programming was an attempt to describe, in a succinct manner, the scope of this extensive body of insights and skills:
The name is a bit of a mouthful and is certainly not NLP's strongest asset, however the name Neuro-Linguistic Programming has been around for over 30 years so it looks like we are stuck with it, which is why it is generally abbreviated to the initials NLP.
You could say that NLP has become successful not because of the title but in spite of it. And, let's face it - if something with such a weird name can become this popular it must be good - because the title does it no favours at all!
Wordweaving™ is a specialist hypnotic language pattern created by the founder of Cognitiive Hypnotherapy, Trevor Silvester. It allows the therapist to develop a unique way of communicating with the client. If you wish to learn more click here.
A trance state is an altered state of consciousness. Nobody knows why we can "go in to a trance state", but we all do everyday, it is just like daydreaming.
Have you ever driven a car on a familiar journey and suddenly realised that you have reached your destination, but cannot remember a certain part of that journey? That is a trance state. Perhaps you have found yourself "drifting off" in the middle of a boring lesson or meeting and realise that you haven't heard what you were being asked? That too is a trance state.
These natural states are utilised to bring about change in the client's perceived problem state to a more positive solution.
No. You cannot be made to do anything during hypnosis that is against your will or principles. Neither can you be made to say anything that you are not completely happy to.
Often our only experience of hypnosis is that of stage hypnosis which is very far removed from the utilisation of hypnosis in therapy. I take a highly ethical approach to use of hypnosis, using it only to assist the client in resolving their issue.
Definitely not, being hypnotised and being in a "trance state" is very similar to daydreaming and I am sure you do not know anyone who has got "stuck" in a daydream. It is a perfectly safe process.
It is perfectly safe for you to drive after a hypnotherapy session. However, if you prefer, my office is well served by public transport.

This session may or may not include hypnotherapy techniques. If at the end of the first session, either one of us does not feel that it is appropriate to proceed, then no charge will be made for the session.
